I was genuinely excited for the Avett Brothers, but the venue was poorly set up for their style of performance. The main stage, where the true A-Bros. fans were seated, was quite a distance from the band. I ended up leaving the show early, although I was looking forward to it. Instead, I went to see the amazing Steve Miller Band, where I could actually enjoy a more traditional concert experience. Shakedown Citi put on an incredible show, despite the challenges of the confusing layout and lack of audience engagement at Churchill Downs. They truly owned the stage. However, the venue presented significant obstacles, and I wouldn't attend another concert there. The setup was just too difficult to navigate, and it detracted from the overall experience. I doubt anyone could overcome those challenges, and the venue would likely ruin any performance.
